9/11 Outreach and Education Director
Phil Alvarez joined the Hansen & Rosasco, LLP team in September of 2019 as the Director of 9/11 Outreach and Education. Phil is the brother of the late Luis Alvarez, after whom the law, Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act, was named. Before passage of the law in July of 2019, Phil made numerous trips with his brother Luis to Washington, D.C. to lobby for the permanent authorization. After more than sixty chemotherapy treatments and near the end of his life, Luis’ emotional appeal in testimony before Congress helped convince Washington to “do the right thing” and “Never Forget the Heroes”.
Luis was a hero NYPD bomb squad detective who became the face and voice of 9/11 first responders and survivors. Luis passed away from 9/11 related colon cancer shortly after the President signed the “Never Forget the Heroes” Act. Prior to joining Hansen & Rosasco, LLP, Phil served 32 years in the Suffolk County Police Department, 25 of which were as a detective.

PALM BEACH, FL
Founded by Henry M. Flagler, one of America’s great industrialists, The Breakers’ story is one of endurance and evolution.
Considered an architectural triumph, the oceanfront resort originally debuted in 1896, then reopened twice after major fires in 1903 and 1925. Decade by decade, it played host to the glitterati and cemented the seaside glamour that is now so central to Palm Beach culture.
Today, that same sensibility remains, modernized to meet the needs of our contemporary guests. With an average of $25 million invested annually to preserve our landmark property, The Breakers has prevailed as one of just over 1,000 family-owned businesses in the U.S. that is over 100 years old and still under its original ownership.
